These stories about scary spiders in fruit seem to rotate around the globe, and are essentially the same every time. And, they are mostly about raising fear and panic instead of telling the actual facts.

Hope you can help restore some sanity to the spiderphobic public, but I fear the tabloids must have their breakfast of fear at regular intervals. Another scary banana story moved just today: http://www.thejournal.ie/aldi-banana-spider-2036099-Apr2015/ . Now it’s the Irish, not the Brits, who are having fits. At least they mention (in the very, very last line) that the spider was completely harmless.
